Integrated Competence Management in Avinor
Avinor is a Norwegian state-owned corporation responsible for a combined airport and air navigation system in Norway. The business includes 46 airports and control towers and control centers. Avinor, with 3000 employees, ensures some 800,000 aircraft movements a year.
Avinor operates with a high degree of authority required skills, with requirements for regular updating, recertification and documentation. There are high demands for specialized expertise, such as air traffic controllers and firefighters. Employees must be continuously trained in situations that we, as passengers will not have to experience.
To maintain a comprehensive knowledge management in Avinor, they initiated a project with expertise including following objectives:

- Maintain competence throughout the process: Performance and Development calls, the authority required expertise, development, job descriptions, reporting, CV, kompetansesøk.
- One registration once - the flow of data to other systems through functional interface - competency loom
- Notification of expiry of expertise and agreed actions
- Better resource planning through better overview
- Cost Reporting

- Course Catalog in SmartLearn LMS® includes all training
- Competence Measures done in SmartLearn LMS®, automatically updated in other systems
- In SmartLearn LMS® all the practical exercises are registered and reported on
- SmartLearn LMS® handles reporting and documentation of competence measures
The first steps in implementing SmartLearn LMS® was performed in the spring of 2010, and included a tight integration with Dossier ProFile and Avinor system for ID management.
